Via Epia Boards

I'm trying to build a small embeded system and have tried installing AsteriskNow on a VIA EPIA 5000 Mini ITX board.

It loads up the installer menu but no matter what i select it immedeately reboots the board.

I also tried with another Via Mini-ITX board i have, a VIA EPIA 8000. that one won't load the menu properly i just get a screenfull of garbled text and nothing I select responds.

Anyone managed to get this installed on either of these boards ?

Any advice gratefully received.

Hi We have installed PIAF on the 5000 boards for testing purposes.

just tried PIAF but having essentially the same problem

it loads initrd.img then briefly flashes up ready and then reboots (on both boards)

Did you have to set anything in the BIOS or pass any parameters to the kernel ?

from memory, it was a ling time ago , but im sure i told it to use i586

from what i can find on Google, Centos5 has no support for i586 boards (it may have worked in older versions)

can anyone suggest any Asterisk/Freepbx distros that not based on Centos/Fedora ?
