Latest Asterisk GUI problems when signing in

Postby lil_elvis2000 » Fri May 07, 2010 4:43 am

I am using Asterisk 1.6.2 on Ubuntu Linux 10.04 and have the latest Asterisk GUI 2.0 - Version 5008 from the svn repositry

I have used Asterisk 1.4 on CrunchBang (Ubuntu) linux with the Asterisk GUI 2.0 before and have rarely encountered a problem with it. But with a fresh install I have some issues.

The first time I logged in the GUI started checking the write permissions on the GUI folder and then scanned for hardware. it then backed up the config file (though I'm not certain it actually did this!) and then gave a message about this and that Asterisk had to restart. After clicking okay it did this whole process all over again! and then again! Each time this loop took about 10 minutes. The GUI never did this before.

I found a hack on the internet to some of the javascript in a file called astman.js which has made things a bit nicer. Though it doesn't always work and the GUI hangs sometimes. As well it does this scanning every single time! and overall the GUI appears to be much slower than on Asterisk 1.4

I would use Asterisk NOW but I did a virtual install of that and it didn't work at all and I'm not happy with the FreePBX feature set at all. I could not get a SIP softphone to login at all - at least with straight Asterisk it worked!

I'm looking for a solution to the GUI login and speed problems. Any ideas at all.
