Simultaneous ring with Cyberdata bell ringer

Postby GerryL » Mon Apr 30, 2012 1:08 pm

I have a polycom phone model 330. I have it set up to ringall ring simultaneously the 2 extensions with a Cyberdata bell ringer. It was working fine until this week after a system reboot. When a call comes in the bell ringer rings, but the phone has no response whatsoever. I can dial out fine. I have also recently upgraded to the new release. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what the problem could be? The log shows normal functionality.

You can ring the phone by itself just fine?

Maybe kick the ringer out of the call queue and test the queue again. Does the phone ring if it's in the queue by itself? If so, add the ringer back in and see if the problem persists.

The call rule is set to ring all and simultaneous rings both the extension and the ringer. I see now an error message in the server log which reads:
" Extension 649 created a loop by placing themselves in their own ringall rule. Hanging up to avoid problems."
This rule has been in place for months and the error began about a week ago.

Since yesterday I deleted this rule and phone rings and works properly now by itself. So, how do I get the bell ringer to ring? I also tried a call rule to place the bell ringer to ring all simultaneous by itself, but that did not work, same results, phone had no response.

On my phone, I have a "simultaneous ring" rule - which rings both my desk phone and my second desk phone and it seems to work okay.

If you delete the rule in it's entirety and then re-create it, do you still have the same problem?

I had this same issue with 5.1.2, it was fixed after a reboot but started happening consistently within a day or 2.

It was fixed in 5.5

Try a complete shutdown and restart of the server.

Edit: also you can set up a call queue with the 2 extensions in it. then set up a rule on your phone ext to send all direct calls to that queue. it's messy but we had to do something similar for a few months between releases.
