Problem with G.729 license

Postby vallancewj » Tue Jul 03, 2012 6:31 am

The company I work for has a need for G.729 for one of our remote employees who only has access to the internet by 3G.

Before yesterday we did not own a license for G.729 codec. So yesterday I purchased one thinking for one phone that is all we needed. After a reboot of the server the phone appears to work, but the clients calling into the Switchvox can not hear me speaking. I could hear them, but they could not hear me.

I went into the advanced error logs and noticed the error message of being out of licenses. So my initial thought was we needed two licenses per call. After purchasing another license and even another reboot the problem persists and all the way through the call (at least until the call is transferred to someone else) the error message below is displayed in the advanced error logs.

Code: Select all
500     07/02/2012 2:41 PM     WARNING     translate.c: g729tolin did not update samples 0
501     07/02/2012 2:41 PM     WARNING     codec_g729a/codec_g729a.c: out of G.729 decoder licenses

Is there something that I could possibly be doing wrong? In the Digium Addon Products I see two G.729 Codecs each with a number of channels being one.

We have SMB 4.6.4 (30500) with SNOM 300 SIP phones. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
- William

you probably have to turn off g729 on your voip provider and on all extensions (use bulk edit if it exists in 4.6) and then turn it on only for that one person.

Yup, make sure no other extension is using it/has it available.

We are not using an external VOIP provider we have a T1 line coming in. I made sure was G.729 turned off and all the other extensions.

Thanks,
