Switchvox Notifier Suite

Postby justgary » Thu Nov 19, 2009 9:46 am

Hello

I am trying to get the Notifier Suite to run on my workstation, I put in the ip address of my phone system and my extension and password. It keeps telling me that my extension or password is incorrect.

Do I have to do any on the phone system to get the connect onto work?

Thanks
Gary

Howdy,

What you're looking for is the jabber address of your Switchvox - configured in the Advanced Options section of the Network Settings configuration tool, e.g.:

https://[your switchvox ip]/admin?cmd=network_settings

Extension is your extension, and password is your webtool password, not the password of the phone (SIP) device.

Cheers.

Malcolm, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the jabber address have to be different than the hostname address?

I'm also experiencing the same problem. Were you able to find a solution, Gary?

I don't believe it works if you put the ip address in. You need to have an actual dns address. Make sure that you set up a jabber hostname in the network settings. If you have a local dns server, set up a record for the jabber hostname that points to the ip of your pbx. If you don't have your own dns server, you should be able to edit your hosts file on your local machine to reflect the correct dns entry.

Yea I got it to work.

I had to setup jabber.mydomain.com in the jabber host setting and set it up in my DNS server.

Thanks

Hi,

I can confirm that the name set under Network Settings / Jabber Hostname must be able to be resolved by DNS. So that means that you must have an entry in the DNS tables for the DNS server that your workstations are referencing or an entry in the wokstation's local host file. This entry should resolve the Jabber hostname on the Switchvox into the PBX's IP address. You then use the same name as the Jabber Hostname in Switchvox Notifier.

Hi,

I'm also experiencing the same problem with SwitchVox Notifier Suite, if i give IP address as jabber host name it is trying to connect and showing "Invalid Extension/Password" But i am able to get this extension in web with the same password.

SwitchVox SMB Version : 5.5 (44416)
SwitchVox Notifier Version : 5.0.423

Any Solution for this?

Thanks,

Nashi.

We have ours set as PBX.whatever.com and jabber.whatever.com. I also have a sticker on the front of my pbx that says DO NOT SET JABBER HOSTNAME TO 'PBX' FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND HOLY.

It takes up the entire length of the server.

Check that.

We have host name and jabber id setup with the same name. I have never had problems with it.

One problem I am having with the Suite is that from time to time I cannot login with my saved credentials. It is kind of annoying but I got used to it. It tries to login but returns wrong password or username. I put the phone password again and I log in with no problems. I guess the password is somehow deleted - maybe it is the OS doing it but I never had time to follow up on this.
