Paging Large Phone Groups (also posted in SMB & SOHO)

We have been requested to page ALL phones in the company for certain company-wide announcements (in addition to overhead paging!), and we know it's not advisable to have more than 20 phones in a paging group. We think company-wide announcements could be accomplished by setting up a series of paging groups of acceptable size (e.g., 20 each) and then having the initial "page" go to an offboard system that records the message and then in turn dials each paging group and plays the message for that paging group one at a time.

Seems like a straightforward app. Has anyone written or know of an offboard application to do that?

Sounds like a nasty solution. Look into the Algo 8180 SIP loud speakers, they work very well:

You might be able to use the Call Creation API to pull off what you want, but I can't say for certain. Needs to be detailed out more and tested to make absolutely sure it will work.

I agree with the previous comment that a paging system might be the best solution:

Cyberdata makes good paging products. They have amplifiers that takes a single SIP endpoint and sends it to multiple speakers (like only ringing one phone). Or they have nice ceiling speakers that are SIP endpoints as well.

why is it not advisable to page phones?

We've had a buildingwide paging group of 80ish phones and haven't had a problem in the 2 years we've had our system. It gets used about 20-40 times daily...
