calls not being placed without pressing "dial"

Postby kd7jz » Fri Jan 13, 2012 12:08 pm

I have a new Switchvox system. I had originally set it up for 3 digit extensions, but changed it to 4. When dialing internal extensions, I want the call to be placed after dialing the 4th digit, but I have to push the "Dial" softkey. How can I make this happen?

Thanks!

This should be accomplished by editing the digitmap and timeout settings, if using a Polycom phone...such as [1-8]xx for 3-digit extensions, or [1-8]xxx for 4-digit extensions. Timeout for each pattern would be 1, so upon reaching the last digit, it would immediately dial the extension.

More often than not, I make my digitmap for internal extensions be [1-8]xx.T to allow for 3-digit extensions with the '.T' meaning 'plus any remaining digits until Timeout', where I set the timeout for that pattern to be either 1 or 2 seconds; that way if the customer has 3-digit extensions now, but changes to 4-digit extensions, we're covered either way-- or if the Switchvox is setup with some 3-digit extensions ('system' extensions like 411, 800, 899, etc) and 4-digit extensions (user extensions) for instance.

@jprichard

I haven't had to do any custom digit maps on the Polycom phones with SwitchVox as I have had to do with other systems such as 3CX. What I have seen with the digit map solution is that when new firmware is pushed to the phones, your hard work is wiped out and you have to do a "touch 'em all".

I hear ya...I should have prefaced by saying we don't use the Feature Packs, so I'm always ready to do the 'touch 'em all'...LOL!
