Route All unused DID's to IVR

Postby mbillings » Tue Jan 10, 2012 11:54 am

We have numerous DID's all over the place and I would like to route all these to an IVR that says you've reached an invalid number. Is it possible to do this? I can't use a range since the DID's all scattered in with used DID's. It would be nice to have all unmatched numbers route to this IVR.

There is a setting for this already, the Default Callback extension in your provider settings.

This default route will send any unmatched calls (ie, numbers which were dialed that you don't have DID rules created for) to a default extension. That extension can be an IVR, or anything else with an extension number.

I was also told by support that you can add a Ranged Rule at the bottom of your DID list that transfers all DID's to a specific extension. Since they are done in order any DID that doesn't have a specific rule will go to this extension. Josh is also correct that you can add a Default Callback Extension in your provider settings however the reseller told me this doesn't also work. Thanks for helping a switchvox newb!

I'd be curious to know why your reseller said the default callback won't work.... this is the specific purpose that a default callback ext exists to begin with.

The ranged rule is a good solution too if you would like to be able to have a separate default callback setting.

Also, avoid overlapping single rules with ranged rules. I have heard over and over from Support that this breaks things, even if rules are supposed to be called in order.

Interesting, a reseller who's support we are using for setup told me to do that, overlap all DID's at bottom to specific extension cause in the mappings on the PRI card, he said it doesn't always work.
