Switchvox High server load after 5.5 install

Postby keithh » Tue Mar 20, 2012 2:45 pm

We are running 5.5 at my place of work and have started seeing extremely high server loads in random intervals daily. This wasn't an issue before upgrading to 5.5. At points during the day the server load will peak out at almost 9.0, while this is happening the switchboard users get disconnected and told to reload the app. Once the server load starts to go back down the users are able to connect to switchboard again.

Has anyone seen an issue like this with the 5.5 update or have any type of insight into this?

Any addon cards installed? HPEC enabled?

No add-ons or HPEC. We literally changed nothing but updating to the latest version and now are seeing these random high load intervals.

We also see XMPP connections dropping several times per day after upgrading to 5.5.

TE120P card here with hardware echo cancellation enabled (I guess that's not the same as HPEC?).

In Server Information, click advanced, and scroll all the way to the bottom. During these high load times, what are the three load average numbers? Sounds like an issue with 5.5 if nothing has changed, though. I'd just open a support ticket, or wait to see if the update this week fixes anything.

9.91,5.59,3.58 - That was one of the higher spikes. It usually doesn't last longer than 30minutes.

We've opened a ticket with them but they are awfully slow at responding. We've had the issue for almost two weeks now and just received our first response from their support team.

I'm also seeing a huge increase in CPU load. For the first time I have seen entries in the error log complaining about system load being over 5. I did a cold reboot of the system and it seems to be a bit better, staying around 3 most of the time but before 5.5 it was like 1 or less every time I looked. And this is usually with 1 or 2 concurrent calls.

Has anyone updated to 5.5.2 yet? We're hoping the update solves some of these high server load issues we've been seeing. We're waiting to see if there are any huge issues that Asterisk would pull the update for, like the last update, before installing it.

I did this morning. They have fixed something to do with the switchboard causing high resource use on desktops but the server seems busy still. Even after a full reboot the server load is average 3-4 when it used to be 1 or so.

I wonder if the new Digium phones have some thing that the server is having to do that is constantly keeping the server busy somehow.
