Hello, anybody knows how to fix this error on asterisk console? Here's the error.

Running X on the box?

Postby LeoS » Wed May 04, 2005 6:57 am

If you're running X (KDE/Gnome) on the box, then it may be that various mixers and whatnot have "captured" your sound device; making it unavailable to Asterisk..

What I normally do (running Slackware) is:
run "alsaconf" from a commandline
Accept the defaults offered by alsaconf

Modify the /etc/asterisk/modules.conf so the appropriate lines look like:

load => chan_alsa.so
noload => chan_oss.so

Then you should be happy camper.

Take care,
Leo
